Currentley the  American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, ACOG recommends that a full surgical team be present during a VBAC in case an emergency cesarean. However...a team from The National Institute of Health is reccomending we take a 2nd look at the guidelines.

After you've had a cesarean would you consider vaginal birth? Have you had a vaginal birth after a cesarean?

I had a cesarean for my little guy.  I'd LIKE to have a 2nd & WOULD consider a vaginal birth for a 2nd baby.

I had a cesarean in December with my first. I really trust my Doctor and she said if we decide to have any more children, that I should have another cesarean. She doesn't think it is worth the risk to attempt a vaginal delivery. And I have to say my personal preference would be another cesarean. I healed really fast from the surgery and can honestly say it's nice that my lady parts went untouched. The only negative about the surgery for me was having the childbirth experience. I don't really feel like I gave birth because it was almost too easy. I wasn't in labor long when they decided I needed the emergency c-section so I didn’t go through the "normal" pains of delivery. It’s a weird feeling. All in all I will chose another c-section if we have more children. Then it will be a planned delivery, which is kind of nice.

I had to have an emergency c-section after 24 hours of STRONG labor with my first.  I tried to have a v-bac with my second child but it failed miserably.  I guess that if my body wouldn't allow me to dialate the first time, why would it the second time?  For my third I scheduled my c-section, and I have to tell you Ciara that each c-section is tougher on your body with a longer recovery time.  In fact, my body is so ravaged from the surgeries that my dr. told me that I couldn't have any more children because my organs are adhered to my uterus now (I guess from all of the surgical glue) and that my organs and uterus could burst if I get pregnant again.   So if I could have had a successful v-bac I would have preferred that over the 3 c-sections.

I had an emerency c-sec with DD, but we've decided not to schedule one with this baby. I have changed dr's since having DD and he says I'm a great canidate for VBAC because there was really no reason for my c sec with DD except that I got an infection...most likely because my previous dr did a lot of unnecessary poking around... broke my water really early, induced me without good reason, and would check how far along i was EVERY TIME she came into the room. My current dr believes things will work out much better if we just leave things well enough alone and let the baby come out when he's good and ready (within reason of course!)

I also had an emergency Csection with my daughter.  My doctor said it would be perfectly safe for me to try to have a VBAC.  I am pregnant again and will decide as things progress I am a high risk pregnancy so id I make it to term I will prob go for it if I have to be induced for medical issues I will preob opt for a csesction.  I had to be put to sleep becasue I wasnt numb yet and am terrified of doing that again.  Either way I go I am getting an epidurl first thing so I can be awake if I need another emergency csection.  But I would def do it I think it would be easier on my body and recovery.  What a terrible pain a csection is!

I also had an emergency C-section because my baby was breech (and they found that the cord was wrapped around her neck twice). I would be up for a natural VBAC for the next one. The risk of uterine rupture is less than 1 percent, I believe. I will definitely give birth in a hospital again, however, to ensure that IF something were to go wrong that I can be taken care of immediately since this second time around would include a higher risk with a VBAC. But my plan is to try for a medication-free, natural birth next time.

This is a scary one for me.  I had an emergency c-section with my daughter, and now I am pregnant with my second child.  I am scared out my mind.  This pregnancy is already difficult that I am afraid the doctors may not want to take the risk.  Recovering from a c-sections is difficult and hard on the body, but I will do whatever it takes to have the healthiest outcome.
