...............According to the Colorado Attorney General's Office you complained the most about rebates followed by utility companies (including TV and cable and magazine subscriptions.

What drives you to make a certified complaint against a company? Have you ever really gotten anywhere when you do?

I've been really upset after flying with certain airlines that I tell myself I'm going home and I'm going to write a complaint. I then get into my car drive home and the anger fizzles. Needless to say, I don't write a complaint.

To time consuming for me.

This is interesting. I recently got a pair of boots from Steve Madden, a gift. Well, I put one of them on and was thrilled! I LOVED these boots more than I can say. I'm seriousl they were the coolest boots known to man! So totally ME. I put them in my closet and promptly forgot about them! LOL Yeah I know. You should see my closet. I am a bit of a shoe whore. Anyway, last month I pulled them out and remembered how totally HOT they were so I put them on only to find... defective on the second boot. I had everyone in the world try it on no one could get their food into the boot! I'm serious. I think the left top was sewn to a right bottom... whatever. So I tried to exchange them. No dice. Everywhere I went same story. FINALLY I got mad, these are 100% leather expensive boots. If *I* made something I'd stand behind it! Seriously! I finally got a hold of Steve Madden and climbed to the office of President of customer relations. He was a JACK-A** Basically from the tone of his emails calling me a liar and saying they couldn't help me. I was FURIOUS. I never get like that. I'm pretty easy going. So, I called the headquarters in NYC and got a really nice woman, also a president of something or other on the phone and I sent her the boots. We have yet to resolve this issue.

For me I don't bother with the BBB or Chamber, these  complaints mean little to me. I go straight to the top if the situation warrents it. I also feel that spreading the word, via social networks and hitting them where it hurts, their customers is MUCH more effective. I have yet to ever "win" anything with a governmental agency and DO not get me started! LOL

I had an apartment complex that was completely ridiculous.  They raised the rent when the contract was up...okay fine with that, normal.  But then they stated that I owed them 3 days rent because I didn't turn in my keys the day I moved out, they also stated that they needed to go back in and clean and charged me a huge fee.  I've never moved out of anywhere...including my parents home when I was 18 and didn't clean.  I even once had a friend who was maintenance where I used to live state that when I left my apartment it was ready for move in the same day, he'd never seen someone clean a place that well.

I moved out of this particular apartment 3 days early because I would be traveling out of state, I went to the office during office hours and no one was there (as was usually the case) and the door was locked.  I put my keys in an envelope with my forwarding number and address.  I then called the next day from my trip to make sure the keys were picked up and was told that "yes" they had the keys and forwarding info.  Then 2 weeks later I get a bill.  I went down there to talk to someone face to face, got the run around, contacted the property manager, no resolve there.  So I wrote a letter to BBB, sent a copy to "Apartment Finders" and to "Renter's Magazine" and a copy to the property manager and to the onsite office.  The BBB did an investigation and all of a sudden it looked as though it was a mistake and they would wave the fees.

I will write letters if I'm passionate about something, especially poor service.  I've written letters to a certain car rental company about how they left me without a ride, rental car and without access to the deposit they took when I made a reservation.  I got an apology, free rentals for a couple of trips and I have been a loyal customer since.
