Our moms taught us to do it and we want to teach our kids to do it..... send THANK YOU notes. But do we ALWAYS remember to do it or is the thank you note becoming a lost art? It only takes a minute to send thanks after receiving a gift or some other kindness and we know how good it feels, but doesn't it seem like we're always forgetting? And how do you involve the kids when they are little when you are trying to thank someone on their behalf? I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas on the subject.

I'm working to pull together some creative ideas to get the kids involved and making thanking fun and easy and meaningful!

I'm not the best @ it! Frankly I get lazy about it. I know, I know...don't throw rotten eggs at me. I just feel like sometimes its so over the top. Weddings & birthdays yes..for sure. I know that I didn't get a few out fast enough for my wedding and a few of my friends parents were asking about them!!!

For Bug's first brithday I made handprints and they turned out fairly cute and were memorable.

We do. I try to always be prompt but sometimes I do tend to be a little late at getting them out. I feel so warm and fuzzy inside though knowing I sent them out.  :-) Better late than never right?

We do too.  Sometimes I forget, but that's rare.  I just always like it when people show me that kind of thoughtfulness, so I try to do the same.  Not perfect at it!  Sure does make you feel good though!

I am writing thank you notes as I type this for my son's 1st birthday.  I think it's important to teach our kids that courtesy....it makes the person writing it feel good and the one receiving feel even better.  I may not be crazy about having to write them but I think the importance of them trumps my laziness. :)

Oh, I am so bad at this.  I always call or say thank you in person,  but am terrible about getting things out in the mail. Hence all my bills are pre-arranged to come out of our account.  I know, a thank you note is in order.  I am so bad sometimes that I have written them out, but then forget to get them to the post office!  How embarassing this is to confess.  It isn't that I am not greatful for the gifts, it is just  I am terrible about the mail.  Family and friends know this about me and do not get upset ... it is the others that do not know me as well that may be offended and I am truely sorry for that!

Momma to Danny(26) Devin(18) Dustin(17) Donovan(5) Delaney(2)and Grandbaby Evan(16 months!) Our kiddos are from the same gene pool and marriage, just a little surprise with Donovan and I didn't want him to be lonely so we had another-and got our girl to boot!

I "thank you" to anything that is sent to me via mail/virtual, etc.  BUT, typically don't send thank you's to those who are AT my parties and I/we open gifts in front of the giver.   Is this wrong?  I've noticed my kids getting 'thank you' notes from kids who's parties they WENT to....maybe I need to be more on the ball?

I think it all depends ya know? I've gotten some from kids birthday parties and while its nice I don't expect it at all. I sent them for bug's birthday parties because I always get them from his friends. But argh! I want to call and just say thank you or open the gift and say thank you ya know? I've even gotten thank you cards for x-mas gifts. Really? I say we expect to much from society and how nice is a phone call? Between my friends and I....Don't sweat it I say. :)
